WHO: This event is for 6th-12th grade students.
DATE and TIME: This event will take place April 25 at 6:00 PM through April 26 at 5:00 PM.
THEME: This year's theme is Worth It. Jesus is worth living a life differenct than the rest of the world. Philippians 3:8 says, "I count everything as loss becasue of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ."
WHAT IS DNOW? “DNOW” stands for Disciple Now. This event is similar to a lock-in; however, it is focused on discipleship and spiritual growth.
There are Large Group sessions where the speaker can move the weekend’s theme along from a big-picture perspective. These are followed by intentional Community Group times where students go deeper with their individual community group leaders. It’s a focused time of spiritual growth and application.
We will be spending the night at the church in classrooms; participants need to bring a sleeping bag or blankets. Girls will be sleeping on the upper level of the building and guys will be sleeping on the lower level of the building.
The church has six showers: three girls and three guys. These will be available for students and leaders to use; however, there will be a lot of students compared to the number of showers. Every student should not expect to shower; they can survive for 24 hours.
All outside doors will be locked during the event and no students will be allowed outside unless an adult accompanies them.
REGISTRATION: Each church should take care of their own registration and relay the information to Westview. Let us know how many are coming, shirt sizes, and any information like food allergies that may be relevant.
SPEAKER: Spencer Sowers, Next Gen Pastor at First Baptist Church of Wesley Chapel, FL.
BAND: We will have an awesome worship band made up of people from a variety of our churches.
COST: The event is $20 per person. This cost covers a shirt and food served during the event: Friday snacks, breakfast Saturday, and lunch Saturday. Please email me if your students have any serious food allergies.
Students will pay their church and the church will give one lump payment to Westview. If you are coming, but not linked to a church coming, you can pay at the door when you arrive.
DEADLINE: Please give me a headcount and shirt count by Thursday, April 10. This will give me time to order the shirts. I will order extras so students can continue to add after the date but it gives us an idea to work with.
LEADERS: All adults who volunteers at the event need to have been background checked by their church. If not, Westview will happily do a background check.
COMMUNITY GROUPS: We will meet in community groups after worship Friday night and Saturday morning. Students will be divided based on grade and will discuss questions related to the message they just heard.
BREAKOUT ACTIVITIES: We will have a variety of breakout activities based on our theme as well as a few games. Each student will choose which breakouts they want to attend.
